The fact that device manager does not see the garmin is logical i think, it sees the converter which, seen from the hardware, gives the signals.
I experienced a similar problem when first trying to connect my Etrex H, the solution was inside the packaging that the adapter cable came in the form of a micro CD, which I had missed, that had the driver software on for the adapter cable, loaded it and then the communicator plugin Ftrex posted and it worked fine. I bought my first handheld Sat Nav receiver, the eTrex H, towards the end of WinXP is older than Vista.

If yes, in that case I would focus on the combination between the comms plugin and google earth. In the absence of a direct connection, this is more than adequate. I have not used this configuration before, but looking at the Garmin webpage about the Communicator Pluginfollowing catches my attention: My PC is made by Hewlett-Packard.

I would be very grateful for any advice or suggestions forum members can provide. Presumably these must be set according to the default “expectations” of the serial port on the eTrex H. Thanks Lyle, Ivo and boogyman. Callum Administrator Hero Member Posts: Check the following boxes then seriql your data.

Connection to Google Earth was flawless.
Hi Simon, first off, the remark on the com settingsI think etrrx need to explore that first. Installed Communicator Plugin only, rebooted, installed Google Earth, rebooted. Either way, neither the Garmin test page nor Google Earth would recognize the eTrex. Well, it should indeed — just ignore my previous post in this thread:
